Following our success at the BBC Make a Difference Awards, Simon was invited onto BBC Radio Nottingham's Breakfast Show with presenter Sparky to talk about the charity, the award, and the impact being made across the local community.
The interview was a fantastic opportunity to share the Summits Up story with an even wider audience and raise awareness of the growing demand for mental health support.
When asked what winning the award meant to Summits Up, Simon said:
“We're incredibly proud to receive the award, but for us it's about what comes next. Recognition from an organisation like the BBC helps shine a spotlight on what we're doing, and that means we can reach more people, raise more funds, and ultimately help more people access support when they need it most.”
The conversation covered everything from our monthly hikes and fundraising challenges to the therapy referrals we continue to fund across the East Midlands.
There was also some exciting news to come from the interview, with Sparky agreeing to join us on one of our future hikes. We can't wait to welcome him into the Summits Up community and show him first-hand the impact that challenge, community and conversation can have on mental wellbeing.
A huge thank you to Sparky and the team at BBC Radio Nottingham for having us on and helping us spread the word about the work being done by our amazing community.
The more people we can reach, the more people we can help. 💚🏔️
