100 “Kay” In May!

Jun 1, 2026 | General

May was all about challenge, determination, and finding a positive focus when I needed it most.

Over a short space of time, I experienced some huge changes in my life. Navigating a separation, moving out of our family home, and adjusting to my daughter joining the army was a lot to process all at once. I found myself struggling in ways I never expected and in a place I never imagined I would be.

In January, I was introduced to Summits Up, and it’s no exaggeration to say they have made a real difference to me on so many levels. Summits Up have given me a focus.

At a time when I felt a little lost, having something positive to work towards made all the difference. When I heard about their 100K in May challenge, I knew I wanted to get involved. And because I love a challenge, I decided that simply completing the 100K running challenge wasn't enough, I also took on the 100K walking challenge alongside it!

I'm already a fairly active person, but this challenge pushed me to be more consistent and purposeful with my exercise. I started fitting lunchtime runs into my working week and even found myself getting up early to run at weekends; something I never do, especially if I knew Simon or Tom had been out the night before!

What surprised me most wasn't just the physical achievement, but the impact it had on my mindset. Having a goal to work towards gave me structure and motivation. Every kilometre completed felt like a small step forward, and throughout the month I noticed my energy levels increasing and my outlook becoming much more positive.

The challenge reminded me of the powerful connection between physical activity and mental wellbeing. It gave me time to think, process, and move forward. Most importantly, it showed me that even during difficult times, having a supportive community and a clear focus can make a huge difference.

Completing the challenge may have been the goal at the start of May, but it certainly wasn't the end. Inspired by the experience and the incredible people involved, I've now signed up for my very first half marathon with the Summits Up crew.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported me, brought the banter on WhatsApp, and kept us going throughout the month - and to Summits Up for helping me find that positive focus when I needed it most.

Here's to the next challenge!
